The Golf GTI sports a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 195kW and 370Nm of torque tuned for strong, consistent pull up to 4500rpm. It reaches 0-100km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with explosive power and a flat torque curve that means there’s always more when you need to open up on the highway.

The 7-speed dual clutch transmission shifts in an incredible 200 milliseconds – quicker than any manual. Of course, Sport mode is its time to shine, holding gears to the redline, downshifting multiple gears under heavy braking and blipping the throttle to match revs.
